The school year is almost over, which means that there will be a new CKTV Media crew! For those of you that are going to be new to the class, I have a few words of advice for you... First of all, within the two years of being in this class, if there's anything you need to know, it would be to ALWAYS CLEAN UP THE MESS! Also, something else you should know is to pay attention! Lastly, you should be aware of the time.
First of all, you all need to put away the messes you make! Even if you see something that's not yours, you should still put it away, or else Mr. M will not be happy. I suggest you just take my word for it and not learn the hard way… For example, if you leave out a piece of paper, put it away! If you see equipment lying around, I'd just ask the class if anyone is using it before putting it away incase people were to use it. If you see someone's script lying out on the table, don't just leave it there for them to get in trouble! Be a nice person and give it back to them. Second of all, everyday, you should be paying attention to what Mr. M has to say, or whatever the speaker has to say, because people really don't like saying things over and over again. And trust me, we've all learned it the hard way… Sooooo, with that being said, you know not to talk or even make weird faces to your friends while Mr. M or a guest is talking. Otherwise, they will not be pleased with our interruption. Believe me. We've all been there, done that, and don't wanna do it again. Last, but not least, you need to be aware of the time you have, whether it's your deadlines, or just the amount of time you have daily. I say this because a lot of people in our class don't really keep track of their time, and they just progress slowly with their projects, and end up rushing it in the end. You also need to be aware of your time when you're staying after school. If it's 3:30, that means 3:30. If it's only till 3:00, it's only until 3:00. So, with that being said, you should plan it out first, so you know exactly what you're doing and you don't waste time. Same goes for when you're filming. You don't want to waste anyone's time by not being organized. This is basically all I have to say… Clean up the messes, pay attention, and keep track of time! You don't want to learn the hard way that you're not supposed to talk when others are talking, or that you're supposed to pick up after yourself. If you catch yourself in one of these situations, don't make up an excuse to get out of it, because that just makes things worse than it already is. Anyways, I hope my advice helped all of you! Good luck to you all next

Recently, I went to the theaters and watched Million Dollar Arm. It's a a movie based on a true story about baseball. This movie is now my favorite movie that I've watched! (And I've watched a LOT)! I guess it's my favorite one because I really like the story! I don't want to tell you what happens because I don't want to spoil it for you.... At some parts, it was predictable on what would happen next, but I still loved the story! I'm not a big fan of sports, but I absolutely loved this movie. The actors were great, and I loved the comedy! The music also gave you the feeling that you were actually in India when they flew to India! Some of the shots were pretty cool too, like the slow motion shots of the baseball being thrown. One thing I noticed was that they used a lot of camera movement to show different things, but it wasn't distracting to the audience or anything. Their shot selection was great in my opinion, and I just loved this movie! I highly recommend it to everyone! Here's the link to the trailer: http://youtu.be/EiC8o7i_ZqE you guys should totally check it out! So, Friday night, we filmed the last of the shots! We are done with all of our filming!!! So, I guess you could say we are.....on track! We have been quickly editing along the way with what we already have! Halle took home the laptop last night to finish up the rest! I know we have been taking a while to film everything, but I'm happy toI say that we are doing good! First of all, even though our suggested filming deadline has passed, and we still filmed the last of the shots on Friday night, we managed to get it done! We are pretty confident about it! Along the way, we have been editing everything. Once we would film a few shots, we would be editing them as soon as possible! We kinda knew that it would take us a while to get the filming done, so we planned ahead to edit along the way. So basically, filming is good! Making the deadline? I'm sure we'll make it! We only have the "party" scene left to edit, which shouldn't take too long, so I say we will have time to edit everything we need to. We may even get done in time to make a few slight adjustments and changes to improve our video! Our deadline is this Wednesday, and we have class on Monday and Wednesday, so I'm sure we'll have enough time to make some final touches! So, I'm pretty confident that we'll make the deadline! Lastly, I would say that the quality of our project is good as well. Meaning, the shots are good, and the story line is good. I'm mainly the filmer for this project, and Halle is the main editor. I tried to get as many creative shots as I could. It was hard to do pans and all that since we didn't have a steady slider thing for the camera.... Overall though, I think our project quality is good! The shots are somewhat creative, and there's a story behind the song that matches it. So basically, our project is going along just fine! Happy to say that we are done with filming, and almost close to finishing up our last bit of editing! Hopefully we finish before hand, so that we are able to make some finishing touches! I hope all of you are on track for your project as well!! I can't wait to see everyone's final products!! Hey, so remember how we were all given a scavenger hunt list for the STN trip? Well, I was wondering what we are supposed to do with all the stuff we got for the hunt… I was just looking through my things the other day, and I found all of the scavenger hunt items but I didn't know what to do with them… I was wondering if we were still gonna continue with that to see who was the winner and everything. We never really talked about it…It just kinda, went away… That was a fun activity for us though, so at least we got something out of it, but I'm not too sure if I should throw away all the things we got or not because no one said anything about it. If we are still going to select a winner, I'd like to know when and how please… :) I think it's funny because my team was like, really into the scavenger hunt haha, and then when the trip was over, nothing was ever done!XD Oh well!
On a different topic now, I really miss STN…:( That was honestly the best STN trip ever! Which is why I really want to be able to go to STN next year with Kauai High! I just want to know how to qualify for it… Meaning, how do we get to go to STN, because someone told me you had to take extra classes in order to be able to go to STN with Kauai High… I really wish I could tag along with CKTV like how Sydney did because that would be super fun! You would get to hang out longer than just the competitions… If we do get to do that, then that would just be awesome! I hope Kauai High goes to STN next year though! And I hope that I can go (if I get into the class)! Coming up soon is family night for our class. This is like an end-of-the year celebration for us, so this is like our time to show off our best work ever. Everyone will be there, so it will be pretty exciting! I have done a few decent projects this year, but I just don't quite know which one I want to show at family night. I think I would like to show my fourth quarter project for the family night. I have a feeling that this project will turn out to be something good, so I'm hoping that this is our best work yet!
First of all, I want to show my fourth quarter project at family night. My fourth quarter project is a music video for the song Gold by Britt Nicole. The song is basically about anti-bullying and others helping out. I feel that since it is the end of the year, you would want a happy celebration, so the song Gold would be a happy, and upbeat song to hear, which would be perfect for a celebration. Most of my other projects are like, depressing or sad, so I thought that this would be the perfect thing to share with the folks! Second of all, I personally really like this project and I think it will be the best job we've done (Halle and I). So far, it is looking pretty good! I love all the different shots we got, and all the stories that fit into the video! I truly think that this video shows all of what I've learned about how to get creative-ish shots and things like that. I have to say, Halle and I make a great team, because while I've been shooting things, she has been quickly editing the shots that have already been imported! It's a real bummer that we can't have two people present one project, because I'm pretty sure Halle wanted to share this video as well….. In that case, my alternative project would maybe be one of the news stories we've done. Or like, the STN film practice video…. Maybe even the STN Challenge if it's possible… All of those, I think we did a pretty good job on, so I guess that would be my second thing to fall back onto if my first choice doesn't work out. The news stories we did are pretty good stories, and the film practice was my first actual short film, and I thought it was pretty cool, so that would be fun to share with everyone! So, basically, my first project choice for family night is my fourth quarter music video for the song Gold. I think that it will turn out to be a great project! If Halle does end up wanting to do that one too, then I would go to option B, which is the news stories or the film practice video. All of them are good, but the music video is like, a wrap up of everything in media, so I really want to share that video! Hopefully I am able to share that video for family night! Or better yet, if both Halle and I could share it together? :D (hint hint) Haha, I'm kidding, but that would be awesome if we both got to share our final project! I hope everyt As you all know, summer is coming up, which means school will be out and it will be our vacation time! However, I've come to realize that we must not slack off yet! We've still got a good 19 days of school left! I have come to the conclusion that all of us are just anxious for summer to come! Which is probably why we are all getting a little behind on our work nowadays, but to be honest, some of us are still trying hard! I also believe that the teachers are also eager for the summer as well, so they don't like all the work they have to do, which gets them more irritated when a student misbehaves. With that being said, us students should not be putting more trouble towards them so that both sides are equally happy.
First off, I have to admit, that I cannot wait for summer to be here! Yet, my goal is to earn a 4.0 GPA! So, that means that there should be not slacking off, and work should still be done! I have been very tired lately, and I think it's because I just can't wait for summer to be here, so that I could just sleep in, but I still try my best to stay focused because it is coming close to the end of the year, which means it's my last shot at getting a good grade and GPA! What I plan on doing so that I stay on track is to make more eye contact with the teachers and speakers, because that way, I will be able to concentrate more on what they are trying to say. Also, I plan on not engaging in so much outside conversations so that it will be easier for me to pay attention. In order to keep others from slacking off and not paying attention, I will try to get them to not talk or make side conversations while the teacher is talking because it distracts a lot of people… Even if I'm not the one talking, I can still hear whoever is making conversations, so that is kind of distracting to me. If I hear someone talking, I try to motion to them to stop talking, but when I do that, I get in trouble because the teachers think that I am the one talking… So, I just try my best to make very subtle motions. By telling others to pay attention, others will be able to focus better as well! Okay, so another thing I could do to stay away from lack of focus is to maybe avoid placing myself by people that I know I will talk to… This is actually going to be hard for me to do, considering that you know, I like to talk to everyone… But, what I can try doing is maybe try to block out any person that tries to talk to me, because honestly, every single class, there is at least one person that tries to make conversation with me, which makes it hard to pay attention to what the teachers are saying. And I could also surround myself with people that I know will stay on task and focus…. So basically, the main thing is to just avoid talking to others with we are supposed to be concentrating and paying attention. Overall, I know that school is coming to an end and everybody wants to be on vacation, but with 19 days left of school, we still need to focus… The students are tired, the teachers are tired, and I bet even the janitors are tired, but, we all still have to work! Which is why, we all must do our best to stay focused and get our work done, so that we may enjoy summer when it comes. I agree that we should all go from good to great, since it is the last quarter of the year and we need to make our best impression yet. Like I said, this is our last shot to get a good grade until next year, so that means that we can't be lazy and off task just yet! See you next class, where h Okay, so recently, my Youth group filmed a monster movie called Key of Doom. We all went to a movie premiere and dresses nice and others came to watch the movie as well! I had a great time, and it was such a great experience! Some friends and I were thinking that it would just be super cool if the Hawaii Media schools got together and filmed one big movie! How awesome would that be? Just think about it! We would all have so much fun filming and producing the video! The students would act, edit, film, write, and just contribute to the video! This would also be a great bonding thing for all of us! I guess this could go for any school really…It could even just be our class! I know it's already fourth quarter, but I just thought it would be a great idea for us to do! Then, when we are finished, we could have this big movie premiere night and everyone could dress nice and there would be popcorn and drinks and a red carpet….! I know, I know, this is big, but don't you know how awesome this would be? Think about it… After going to the monster movie premiere, I had so much fun that I would LOVE to do it again!
Okay, so many people have been telling me about this Kauai camp with Les Rose, but I don't know anything! I really would like to know about this camp, and if our class was doing it or something, because it sounds pretty cool! It's supposedly about writing and broadcast, but I'm not too sure. I would like to go to this camp though! Also, speaking of camps, I really enjoyed the Searider camp, as well as out CKTV Kauai camp, and I would enjoy having another one of those camps again! I think we can all learn a lot from them, just as we learned a lot from the previous camps! If any of you happen to hear about any media camps on Kauai, I would love to know about them! Do you think that it's possible that we have another camp on Kauai, just as we did a couple years ago? With all the Hawaii schools? Because that was really fun! I feel that it's such a great opportunity to meet new people and learn a lot at the same time! Anyway, I really hope that there will be a Kauai camp that we could all go to sometime! Perhaps the Les Rose camp? Whatever camp it is, I think it would be a great experience for all of us! Honestly, I think that doing community service is a great idea! I agree that we do get a lot of support from our community, so we should give back to them! I have a few ideas in my mind such as a beach clean up, or like we could cook meals for the poor, or plant more trees! I think that by doing community service, we will all learn a lot , such as the true value of things, and how to be more appreciative of what we have. We'll all get a different perspective on life that we haven't gotten a glimpse of yet. First off, doing community service is definitley a terrfic idea! I personally think that the class would love it as well! I do believe that we should give back to the community as they gave to us. Now, we may not be able to necessarily give them money, but we can still help out around the place! Doing community service would definitley help out our class, as well as do good for everyone else! Many of us will learn more things about life that we may not have known before. Such as the true value of things. Instead of throwing away wasted food, we need to learn that to others, that little bit of food could've saved someone from starvation! So I truly think that doing community service is a great idea! Some ideas for a community service could be having a beach clean up, or serving the less fortunate, and planting trees to help the environment! If we do beach clean ups, imagine how much sea life you could save by just throwing away an old net! It would also be cool if the whole class got together and made a whole bunch of meals for the less fortunate to eat, and maybe we could donate the food to a soup kitchen or something. (Wherever) People would be so happy! Lastly, we could all go and plant a whole bunch of trees around the island to help the environment! It will also help global warming as well.... If our media class does community service, then I would reccommend doing a different community service every month or something, maybe every quarter. Every month may be too much, because we are a busy class.... I say, try to do it as much as we can! It should be a fun thing to help out or community anyway! Another problem is finding a day where most of the class can make it.... Everyone has their own schedules, so it might be hard to schedule things... But other than that, I say we do community service as much as possible! Those are just a few ideas for community service, but I'm sure we'll think of better ones! I honestly think that our class doing community service is a super great idea! it would help out a lot of people, including our selves. Even though I won't be here when the community service will be happenings I still support it 100% because I truly believe that this is such a great opportunity for our class to give back all that we got! We just need to plan out the dates and decide on what to do! Helping out the community should be worth whatever it takes, honestly. Go for it! Alright, so our deadline for our scripts has just passed, and thank goodness, we made it on time! The only thing I'm worried about is setting a date where everyone is able to film on the same day! Their schedules are all different, so it's really hard to set a final date! I really hope that we can get this done on time, and that we don't fall behind! I want this project to turn out really good since it's our final one!
Recently, (today) I helped Kelli and Kaycee out with their short film! I like how they are doing a sequel to The Call That Changed It All. It was a long day, but we had a lot of fun! We actually got quite a bit accomplished! I can't wait to see what the final product is! When we were filming the scenes, we all had Nerf guns, and everyone was playing with them, so now I really want a Nerf gun haha. I think just being there with everyone else was really fun, and we all got along well, and there were no arguments at all, so I thought that was pretty awesome! I hope that their project goes well, along with ours and every |
