Honestly, this practice was worse for my team. None of us had a REALLY good idea for this topic, which was The Rewind Button. I don't know, it was just, difficult. I wasn't proud of my video. We had an idea, but then when we went out to film, they wanted to change our idea. So, we still had to spend time outside thinking of what we were gonna do. When we came up with a different idea, we didn't have a strong issue for our reason to go back in time and fix. Also, our beginning had no audio! Taylynn said that she could hear the sound, and that it was fine, but I guess it never came out! We just barely made the deadline!! For our second practice, I think we did better last time than we did this time. Honestly. I think it was because I was just so tired, but I really don't know… I hope that next practice, we are able to think of a great idea, because in my honest opinion, this idea wasn't so great. I am starting to think that this competition isn't as easy as I thought it would be. The music video category was actually easier last year… But, we're just gonna have to keep on trying until we get it right. I think I would feb ether off making a horror movie or something haha. Maybe next time, we could bring a change of clothes in case we need to show two different time periods or something. Or maybe bring some make up? Are we allowed to do that? I hope so, because then maybe that might help us tell a story.
Recently, I watched a movie called Something Borrowed. I loved it!!! I love the characters, the story, and the humor! As I mentioned before, I love love stories! This one, well, it's a love story! It was kind of predictable, but most of the scenes you kind of just followed along. I don't really know what I'm trying to get at, but this movie was really good, I even downloaded it on my phone! you can watch this movie on Television, but I want to be able to watch it wherever I go because I might get bored or something. So, moving on to why I really enjoyed watching this movie...
The first thing about this movie is that I am familiar with the actors and actresses in it. This move stars Ginnifer Goodwin, Colin Egglesfield, Kate Hudson, and John Krasinski. the main characters are mostly Rachel, Darcy, and Dex, which are Ginnifer, Kate, and Colin. I think they found the right people to play these characters. I don't think they could've found anyone better. well, except maybe colin could've been a better cryer. I actually laughed when he cried because his face... oh my gosh, his face was hilarious! I can't find a picture of it, so you'll just have to watch it sometime! Other than that, the casting choices were great! Everybody made the story believable for me! Second of all, this movie was the bomb because the story was really good. I mean, sure, it was a little predictable, but I thought it was so cute! The story was about these two best friends who are in love with the same guy. The more outgoing one ends up getting engaged to the guy while the guy, Dex, does't know whiter or not he loves Darcy or Rachel. Darcy, Dex's fiancé, doesn't know that Dex and Rachel have a thing, so she plans this whole wedding and thinks she can trust Rachel, when Rachel is really going behind her back having an affair with Dex. Rachel and Dex try to hide the fact that they have a thing. You really just have to watch the whole movie to be able to get what I'm talking about. But, the story is cute. I just thought that Dex shouldn't have ended up with either of them because both Rachel and Darcy aren't very good people, because of what they were doing. Overall, if you like love stories, then you should really watch this movie. Lastly, another thing I like about this movie was that it was a romance comedy. it was dramatic, romantic, and humorous. There were quite a few humorous parts in this movie, which made the film even more interesting to watch. One of my favorite parts in the movie is when they are playing Bat mitten, however you spell it. The game with the racquets that are like tennis racquets and then you hit this birdie instead of a tennis ball…. Anyways, so Rachel, Darcy and Dex are playing that game, along with Ethan, Rachel and Darcy's friend. Whoever wins the match gets to tell a secret that the opponent told them. So when Ethan scored a point, he was on Rachel's side. Ethan was gonna share a secret that would ruin Dex and Darcy's relationship, but Rachel didn't want that so she whacked Ethan in the face with her racquet before he could say anything. It was hilarious! I have actually watched this movie about three times in the past month haha. I never get tired of it. Although, it does have a little bit of swear words in it, but it's rated PG- 13 so, yeah, I'm qualified ;) Anyways, if you get permission from your parents, I would totally recommend this movie. It is funny, cute, and romantic. My kind of movie. I think if the actors were different, the movie wouldn't have been that good. There are some parts that I felt the actors really had to be confident to do, because they look silly doing it. So, this movie on a scale of one to ten, I would give it at least a 9. Only because Dex's crying kind of threw me off. They are making a second movie which is called Something Blue! i can't wait to A while ago, we had STN Practice! This was our first practice of the year! Since I was in in a category similar to this one, meaning, you have the same idea where you need to be creative and all, I kind of knew what to expect. Although, I was a little late to practice, so I wasn't there when they thought of the idea. Our topic was The Champ, so that's what our title of the movie had to be. I did take a long time to find my group when I got there because from where I was looking, they were out of sight. There were some things I learned about myself, my group and the movie trailer category.
First off, what I learned about myself is that I am now an actress for our group, as well as one of the editors. When I got there, I had no idea what was going on, so I guess they assigned me as an editor and actress. I found out that I am a good planner. By that, I mean that I am good at planning out how things are going to work, be shot, who's who, etc. See, when I found my group, I asked them some questions about what the story was about. They said it was about a guy who wins the boxing match. That's quite bland. I told them that they should've took some time to figure out everything before going out to film. So, I stood in the outdoor court and gave them all kinds of ideas, and we brainstormed. Finally, we had the whole thing planned out. I also found out that I am a good shot composer. Mr. M commented on the some shots in the film that he liked, which were mines - I decided we needed some different angles, so I showed our filmed what I meant. So, I was pretty stoked! There were some things that I learned about my team. First of all, there are six people on our team in total. There's me, Micah, Alaysia, Taylynn, Ysabel, and Ben Murray. So, Micah and I are the only returnees. To be honest, I don't know where my team would've gone with this whole thing if I showed up later. They didn't have anything set up, except for the idea of a boxer winning a match. It was almost as if I were the director of our group, which is not a bad thing, considering I am the oldest one. But, I felt like my team learned a lot from this past practice. Next time, I now to sit with my whole group and plan the whole thing out before rushing out to film. There was maybe one person that didn't really have much to do though, most of the time. So, it is kind of difficult to have such big crew. We all get along pretty well though, I mean, when I was there, they listened to me at least, so that was good. Nobody fought about anything. There were a few complaints about people not wanting to redo the scene again because "it was too hot". Other than that, it was pretty good. Lastly… Our category. I actually really like this category, I mean, it's pretty fun. I like the idea of being able to create your own story, but based on a topic. I just love using my imagination to create a movie trailer that wold be interesting to others. But, you can't get too caught up in making the story because you're goal is to leave suspicion in the crowd so that they want to watch it. I remember making a movie trailer in X-Block, and I gave away too much of the story… Now I know that I can't do that, and even more os, we are working with people from all around the country in STN, so we really need to make it good. So, we've got six hours total to make our whole trailer. Three hours fro filming and coming up with an idea, and three hours for editing. This is I believe a one minute video, so it shouldn't take too long to edit, which gives us time to make revisions (hopefully). I really did enjoy this category! STN will come up sooner than we realize, so my team and I need to step it up and work our butts off at practice, and at STN! This previous practice was pretty good/okay for our first try. Next practice, we will improve on coming up with our idea FIRST, and then going out to film. We need to make sure that we have enough b-roll, otherwise, we can't go back out and shoot once we're in the editing room!!! I hope that everyone continues to get along with each other all the way through STN! Every practice we have, we are just getting closer and closer to the REAL COMPETITION!!!!! Oh. My. Gosh. I cannot think of one good PSA idea!! I talked to Mr. m and told him all of my ideas and he didn't REALLYYYYY like any of my ideas!!! I mean, there was this one idea that he was kind of interested in, which was my parody of "What Does The Fox Say". he still thought that one was going to be difficult and was unsure of it. So, I'm stuck here trying to brainstorm PSA ideas… I mean, I could do another parody, which I wrote last year and never got to use it for my PSA. It's like, this year I am just out of creativity!! There are already so many PSA's out there that every time I try to come up with an idea it's just like, oh, someone already did that! As the years go by, more and more ideas are being taken so it's really a hard thing! If I could just come up with one really good idea, then I will be blessed! Relieved! And to make matters worse, the script deadline is coming up real soon!!! I am really going through a PSA struggle!! I AM NOT EVEN SET ON AN IDEA YET! This is cray I tell you, cray. I can't stand to think that the deadline is coming up and I don't even have an idea, let alone a topic! The struggle is real… I can't. I just can't. I thought I was gonna have a whole bunch of great ideas, but then I find out that I don't even have one good one. To put even more pressure, I'm supposed to enter my PSA into a contest!! Oh good gosh…… but don't get me wrong, I was brainstorming up in California over break everyday when I had the time, and I came up with a fees ideas, but none of them I guess appealed to Mr. M! I hope - I PRAY that I can find a good topic TONIGHT!
So, it's the fourteenth day into the New Year!! And the 8th day into the new Semester!! For this new semester, I have three main goals. One of them is to be more aware of my deadlines. Second of all, I want to learn how to do more than just putting the clips together, like enhance my videos with effects! Lastly, I want to make an outstanding final project for the year! I am in eighth grade already!! No!!!! My LAST YEAR IN MEDIA!!! Yet, only my second. Doesn't matter, I will strive to make this the best year ever!
My first goal for the semester is to be cautious of when my deadlines are, and I mean it. Every time I say I'm not going to procrastinate, I end up just making the deadline by a close call! You would think that since I have had so many deadlines that I should know by now! We'll see this semester if I can strive through… If I do this, then I won't feel worried when I'm turning my project in, because I won't be afraid that it'll be too late by the time it's done. This semester, I will wipe that crease off my brow by turning my project in way before time is up. BUT, if I have a TON of time left over, then I will of course, revise it and see if there are any more changes I can fix! My second resolution is to make my videos as interesting as possible. I want to make my work memorable- in a good way. For instance, I want to learn how to add certain effects to my shots to make them more interesting, maybe even learn to use the green screen. Or, like, I could do certain color effects, or create flashbacks, slow motion shots, or anything you can possibly think of that will enhance my videos. Telling a good story is one thing, but when you add things to your editing, it makes it even better!! I wanna go from good to great. I know that I was talking about how Kody said that it's not about what you have, but I say that if you do have the opportunity, then go for it! ] My last goal is to make sure that I create a final project for the year that is way better than all of my other final projects I created! See, I've been writing a whole bunch of short films lately, because I've gotten bored. So, I wrote out dialogue scripts. My most recent one is seven pages long, not back and front. So, since I've already written a few scripts, I think I'm gonna try bringing that script to life, and actually create a film! This will be for my fourth and final project of the year! By the way, all of my stories I've written are like drama stories or like love stories, I don't know. Dramatic. Anyway, I plan to make that film the best film I have ever made in this class! Last year, I made a movie trailer, which was on the Kanna Ohana. It was a comedy. Lighting was bad, there wasn't really a story, and my family isn't actually like that, with the exception of a few things. After this semester, I won't be joining the High School's media club, so this will be the last time I get to create a story and share it with a bunch of people and get tips on how I can improve! I want to make sure that I have fun, and that I make this a year I won't forget! I will definitely try to follow up on my three goals for this new semester! I don't wanna think of eighth grade as my worst year. I wanna leave this class feeling proud of what I've accomplished, proud of what I've done! Hey guys! So you all remember the guest speakers that cam to our class right? Kody and Arthur? Well, anyways, I really paid attention to what thy were saying. It was really inspiring to see that a guy, who's only 21, was making films and all that stuff already!! He even got asked to go to a huge film festival on the Mainland!!!! How crazy is that? I would so love to do that! I learned that it's not about what kind of equipment you have, but it's about how good you can tell your story. I didn't know what kind of camera he was talking about, when he mentioned it being small, and that's the one he used to shoot in the film festival. I was confused on that… but the message came through.
I was excited when Arthur mentioned that there would be a whole bunch of films made on our home Island!!! And wow, they're even making a Jurassic World!!!! Anyway, I can't wait to see what kind of films will be owing out! When I watch them, I can be like, "Oo! I've been there!" or "OMG, I know where that is!" etc. I remember him telling me that it would be around five months from now that they're gonna start filming. I can't wait!! Who knows, maybe some of us might be in one of the films! You never know!! It was pretty cool when they were both walking around and talking to all of us. Like, they both talked to me, Lilly, Marlena and haven about PSA's and then later about Hiki No. It was pretty cool to talk to people in the film industry/ business. I felt all professional! I look forward to seeing more guest speakers and getting the opportunity to talk to them as well! |
